FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What services do you offer?
We offer tutoring from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to IB / A Levels.
These can be one-to-one sessions or group sessions (up to 4 students).
Whether you need to learn topics from scratch, revise for upcoming exams or guidance with academic writing, this can all be covered in these sessions. We also offer assistance with applications to Undergraduate Degrees.
What subjects do you tutor?
The subjects on offer depend on the age of your child.
We offer the main subjects Maths, English and Science to almost all age levels, but we also have many more subjects on offer.
Please click here to visit the 'Subjects' page of our website.
Are you able to help with the IB?
Yes, we can help with IB and A Level specifications.
We can also help with iGCSE, as well as GCSE.
Do you offer group lessons?
Yes, we offer both one-to-one and group lessons.
Group lessons can have a maximum of 4 students at one time.
We recommend choosing to work with other students who are of a similar ability, particularly in exam years. At GCSE level, all students in the same group need to be taking either the Foundation or Higher Level exam.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions can be a minimum of 1 hour in length and a maximum of 2 hours.
If you wish for your child to do a total of 3 hours a week, this can be divided across the week in the following ways:
x1 one hour, x 1 two hours sessions
x2 ninety minute sessions
x3 one hour sessions
If the sessions run over slightly, you will not be charged for this additional time.
Do you offer a free trial lesson?
Yes, we offer free 30 minute trial sessions for all ages groups.
We can also provide a one hour trial session at a reduced rate. Please contact us for more information.
What can we expect from a session?
Whether its a one-off lesson or a regular lesson, face to face or online, each session is highly personalised in order to best support the student's progress.
Online sessions may use slides or the whiteboard in order to explain concepts diagrammatically. These can be made available on request, but we do ask that you please don't share them with others.
We encourage students to ask as many questions as they need, no matter how silly they may think they are (!), in order to make the most of the sessions.
Do you give students homework?
Yes, we may give students homework. This won't necessarily be every lesson, though.
If you would rather your child didn't receive homework, please let us know on your Tutoring Information Form or send an email to or your personal tutor's email address.
We recommend that students in GCSEs and A-Level years do receive homework regularly to make the most of the sessions and prepare for their exams.
Do we need to be punctual to lessons?
Absolutely! Very often tutors will have another tuition session with someone else after your lesson.
If the lesson starts 10 minutes late, we are unlikely to be able to add a further ten minutes on to the end of the agreed lesson time.
But what happens then if my tutor is delayed?
All our tutors are highly reliable. If ever your tutor is late, it will be for good reason!
We will always do our best to be on time and will let you know as soon as possible if we are likely to be delayed.
Tuition risks being delayed as a result of wifi problems or traffic congestion, for example.
If your tutor does run late at any point, the session will still run for the full duration.
Do you only offer tuition during the school term-time?
No, we offer tuition all year round. The only days we don't offer any tuition is New Year's Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Do I need to be located in Kent, UK?
No, we offer tuition to anywhere in the UK.
If you are located outside certain areas within Kent, tuition will have to take place online.
How will payments be made?
All relevant payment details will be included on the Booking Form sent out to you once you have filled in the Tuition Details Form.
When do I need to pay for sessions?
Payments are made in advance on either a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. You will be invoiced in line with this with specific details.
Sessions will not go ahead unless the transfer has been completed.
How can I make the sessions more affordable?
Group sessions are cheaper per individual than private sessions.
Will I be charged if I cancel the session?
If you wish to cancel a session, please be sure to provide us with at least 48 hours notice. You can then choose to reschedule the session or receive a full refund.
If we are provided with less than 48 hours notice, but more than 24 hours notice, you will receive a 50% refund.
If less than 24 hours notice is given, you will be charged in full.

We don't charge for travel time if you live less than 10 miles away from the tutor.
If you live relatively locally to Sevenoaks but are situated over 10 miles away, we may charge you an additional amount for travel or ask if you'd prefer online tuition instead.
If we have several tutees living in the same area, who are being tutored consecutively, we won't charge you for additional travel time, even if you live over 10 miles away.
